Al and Anita Robertson's 50th Anniversary

On December 27, 1968, Anita Blackwell of Stonewall and Albert Robertson of Pawhuska were married at Evangelistic Temple in Tulsa, Oklahoma by Rev. Dan Beller. The best man was Chris Thompson, college roommate of the bridegroom, and the matron of honor was JaNell Thompson Gasaway, cousin of the bride. The bride and groom had met while attending Oral Roberts University.
On December 27, 2018, Al and Anita Robertson of Stonewall reaffirmed their wedding vows at Evangelistic Temple (now called SpiritLife Church) with Rev. Dan Beller officiating. Chris Thompson and JaNell Thompson Fleming reprised their roles as attendants. Also in the wedding party were the children of the Robertsons: Alisa Miller (Tulsa) and Aaron Robertson (Hillsboro, Texas); their spouses Mike Miller and Brandy Robertson; and their grandchildren Chloe and Daxle Robertson. Another grandson, Max Miller, was unable to attend. Chloe and Daxle were the bearers of the special rings that had been purchased in Jerusalem for the occasion.
Before the ceremony, Anita related the tale of the weather fiasco during their original wedding. After a balmy 72 degrees during the day, an Arctic cold front moved through in the late afternoon bringing with it a snow storm. By the time of the 8:00 pm ceremony, the roads were impassable. Because of the weather, most of the groom's family were unable to get to Tulsa, and the bride and groom could not get out of town to go to their honeymoon destination.
The couple served a light lunch to their family and friends who attended the fiftieth anniversary ceremony. While their guests were eating, Al and Anita told stories about the three-week trip to Israel and Jordan from which they had just returned. They did not take a regular tour, but had friends who live in Aqaba, Jordan and rented a car to drive wherever they wanted to go in both countries. It was the trip of a lifetime. The photo shown is at Masada in Israel.
